Within the framework of Rotary Slovenia, the GlassyClassy.eco initiative was launched in 2020, the goal of which is to make Slovenia the first country in the world to completely abandon the use of plastic bottles for water and other beverages by 2025. The pilot project will be extended to other countries as an example of good practice within Rotary International. Let’s each and every one of us take the first step and contribute to a cleaner environment. Replace bottles with environmentally friendly alternatives. One alternative to a plastic bottle is a glass bottle. Glass is also being recycled much more successfully than plastics. After 1970, energy consumption in glass production fell by 77% globally, not least due to material recycling. The glass can be easily cleaned and reused without micro-plastic splinters.
